Bridge

The single arch bridge is located in the centre of the city today. The following information concerning the bridge has come to us from Evliya Çelebi:

"The charities of Muharrem Pasha are one little bath, eight water mills, which are located on the Elembuz River and one bridge that is made of stone. It is also located on the Elembuz River. The water for the bath goes along the bridge and flows through the city. The Elembuz River comes from Elembuz Mountains and flows through the city. After flowing for one day’s journey, it empties into the Mediterranean Sea" (VIII, 1966, p. 38).

According to the information in Çelebi, the bridge was built in the 16

th century. There is a photograph of it on page 405 of Issue 338 of the Servet-i Fünun Journal of 1313 (1895-1896), (Çulpan, 2002, p. 212). It can be seen that the bridge has been repaired several times. It is still being actively used.
