Cafer Effendi Dervish Lodge

It was located in the Jeweler Hamza Bey neighborhood. Evliya Çelebi, who visited the Lodge, wrote:

"When Cafer Efendi slept in the Karani Dervish Lodge in Yemen, he dreamed of Veysel Karani. In the dream he heard; “Cafer, stay in Trikala, it is your birthplace”. Thereupon the pious man came to Trikala and had a Dervish Lodge built. A member of a mystical order, turning to God in 1026 (1617), his tomb is located within this Lodge. Religious leaders who have run the Cafer Effendi Lodge have organized big meetings for commemoration and worship there”

(VIII, 1966, pp.49-51). The charitable foundation of the dervish lodge, VGMA, is registered in the Atik Defter Nr: 725, p.150, on 5 Ca, 1138 (January 9, 1726).
